Worcester Hilltopper Academy Magazine

We are thrilled to share that this publication has won back-to-back awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, which is a leading professional association in the independent school world. In 2016, The Hilltopper garnered an overall Silver Award among independent school magazines. A year earlier, just after our redesign of the magazine’s format and content, it won a Bronze Award for magazine design. The magazine was evaluated against entries from boarding and day schools throughout the highly competitive educational sphere of the northeastern U.S. and eastern Canada.

Worcester Academy needs its magazine to speak to a diverse group of local and global constituents, as well as the students and families of past and present. Our concept for this biannual publication aligns the stories and information with the school’s overall communications priorities. Focused feature stories and a unique, oversized format allow the content to shine—appearing as dynamic in print as the programs are on campus.

In addition, the design incorporates a layer of Augmented Reality, which allows readers to use mobile devices to link directly from magazine pages to video interviews with arts faculty, a gallery of student artwork and photos from alumni weekend.
